Sqreen

188 King Street, San Francisco, California, 94107, United States

Overview

Sqreen offers an Application Security Management platform that monitors and protects web applications and cloud infrastructure without requiring code changes or a firewall. Customers install a library package and require the Sqreen module so microagents run continuously and report findings to a dashboard, with optional real-time protection modules. The platform includes self-protection against SQL and XSS injections, an in‑app web application firewall, and protections against account takeovers and bad bots. Sqreen supports Node.js, Ruby, PHP, Python, Java and Go and reports only a small CPU overhead upon deployment. Clients mentioned include Le Monde, Algolia and Y Combinator. Financially, Sqreen has completed a $14 million Series A to support its product and growth. Sqreen is a software-as-a-service security product that instruments web applications (initially Ruby on Rails, with Python support coming soon) to monitor and surface security events via a dashboard. The service injects code into applications, uploads technical data such as memory dumps to build a dataset of threats, and provides protection or remediation for obvious vulnerabilities. Sqreen can recommend fixes (for example SQL sanitization or input restrictions to prevent XSS) and aims to leverage machine learning to automate many of those fixes over time. The company plans broader language support (Java, Node, PHP) in future releases. Pricing is not finalized; the team intends to offer a freemium model but has not settled subscription tiers. Sqreen already protects production versions of several popular web apps and imposes roughly a 4% server-resource overhead. The two co-founders previously worked together on Apple’s security team, which informed the product approach.
