St. Renatus is developing a needle-free dental anesthetic delivered as a nasal mist designed to anesthetize the maxillary arch. The company secured up to $3.5M from an angel investment group to advance its clinical program. It received a favorable End of Phase 2 review with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, with agreement to proceed to Phase 3 studies. The funding is intended to support Phase 3 clinical trials, which the company expected to complete by late spring 2012, and to generate data for final professional labeling. A New Drug Application to the FDA was expected to be filed by summer 2012. Led by CEO Steve Merrick, the company planned to seek additional funding in 2012 to prepare for U.S. commercialization in 2013 and for registrations in other countries.
