Overview
StackEngine provides an operational management layer for Docker that gives operations and IT staff visibility and control over container instances across virtual machines and cloud providers. The product lets administrators script start/stop/move actions, filter and search hosts and containers, and manage containers at scale across multiple cloud instances and VMware VMs. Founders Bob Quillin and Eric Anderson—both with operations backgrounds at CopperEgg, Hyper9 and VMware—launched the company to fill a tooling gap for operations teams as Docker adoption grows. The product is currently in private alpha, with a public beta planned for next month and a full release targeted by the end of the year. After several months of bootstrapping, StackEngine secured $1M in seed funding from Silverton Partners and LiveOak Venture Partners to accelerate launch. The company is based in Austin, Texas.
