Star.me

2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA, 90067, United States

Overview

Star.me is a social network–meets–social game built around giving and receiving virtual Stars as positive reinforcement. The product launched in invite-only beta and centers on themed Stars users can give (e.g., "UR CRAZY," "BFF," "Mom Jeans") and display on profile pages. Profiles surface "Stars sent" and "Stars received" and act as a visible record of social validation; users can distribute Stars via Star.me, Facebook, Twitter and email. The founder, Ze Frank, positions the product as a playful experiment in simple joy and reciprocity rather than a traditional social app. Future plans include UI work (e.g., how to represent large numbers of Stars), tweaking game mechanics, exploring creative monetization paths, and expanding ways to give Stars. Financially, the project has received $500K in funding from a group of investors to support development.
