45 West 60th Street, Suite 19H, New York, NY, 10023, United States
Overview
Starburst Labs builds a suite of online and mobile services aimed at independent wealth managers and armchair investors. Its first product, Wealthbox CRM, is a customer-relationship management system already integrated with eMoney Advisor tools sold by Fidelity to about 40,000 advisor customers. The company began work on its first product in 2013 and is positioning its offerings as a way for human advisors to collaborate with robo-advice tools. With new funding it plans to launch a consumer-facing investment community and advisory site called InvestorSay, an in-beta virtual-trading platform PaperTrade.io targeted at the media business, and Wealthbase, a Quora-like channel for consumers to ask financial questions to qualified advisors via third-party media sites. Starburst emphasizes expanding its product suite to bring more investors into the money-management funnel and to improve advisors' practices. CEO John Rourke is a serial entrepreneur who previously built Bantam Live CRM and sold it to Constant Contact in 2011. Gotham Tech Labs develops and operates online products that connect financial professionals and investors. Its core products include Wealthbox, an online CRM application for financial professionals, and Wealthbase, an inbound marketing network that connects investors with financial advisors. The company will use new funds to further invest in its core CRM technology and in Wealthbox, and to develop complementary online products like Wealthbase. Gotham Tech Labs is New York City-based. As of this round the company has raised a total of $4m. The company closed a $2.5m Series A round.
