As of December 2014 it listed around 22,000 rooms (36% alternative) across 4,000 towns and processed roughly $2.8 million in bookings in December after a seven-fold revenue increase over the prior year. Seventy percent of its business comes from tier-two, -three and -four Indian towns. Mobile traffic rose to about 50% (from 10% in January 2014) and mobile bookings grew to roughly 40% (from 7%), prompting a lightweight mobile site launch in April 2014 and native apps scheduled for April 2015. Stayzilla planned to double its 350-person team over the year and aims to reach 50,000 rooms across 8,000 towns by the end of 2015. StayZilla is a hotel booking site that focuses solely on room reservations rather than broader OTA services. Founded by Yogendra Vasupal in 2005 and rebranded from Inasra.com in 2010, the company is based in Chennai. The platform lists 3,751 hotels across 448 cities in India, with room rates ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 60,000. It offers segmented deals (Family, Honeymoon, Highflier, Swing, Jumbo) and promotional offers like NightBird, EarlyBird, Cash-in/Cash-out and Smart Buys, plus filters for price, star rating, amenities, leisure options and cuisine. The company received a $0.5M investment from Indian Angel Network to expand its property network, upgrade its technology platform and build a foundation for scalable growth. IAN investor Ravi Krishnappa highlighted StayZilla's differentiated technology, strong hotel relationships and experienced team.
