Stellaromics

321 Harrison Ave, 5th Floor, Boston, MA, 02118, United States

Overview

Stellaromics develops Pyxa, a 3D spatial biology platform that visualizes and analyzes the spatial organization of cells and molecules in thick tissue samples at sub-cellular resolution. The technology builds on the company’s STARmap and RIBOmap methods to enable multi-omic spatial profiling across hundreds to thousands of genes. Pyxa supports analysis of tissue slices 100μm thick or more and offers automated workflows and advanced 3D visualization software. The company says initial users in neuroscience, oncology, and immunology are already leveraging the platform. An early access program is fully subscribed and initial commercial shipments are estimated to begin at the end of 2025, with broader launch activities planned at conferences such as AGBT 2025. Stellaromics is headquartered in Boston and was spun out of the laboratories of Karl Deisseroth and Xiao Wang. Stellaromics is a Boston, MA-based company developing in situ spatial multi-omics technology to map gene expression within intact tissue. Its flagship product, STARmap (Spatially-resolved Transcript Amplicon Readout mapping), reveals gene expression patterns within intact tissue to aid target identification and biomedical research. The company is in late-stage product development on its Plexa™ suite, with an alpha version expected to be available via a Technology Access Program in early 2024. Stellaromics intends to use the funds from the Series A to consolidate the business and establish a new headquarters to house its growing team. Founded in 2022 by Karl Deisseroth, M.D., Ph.D., and Xiao Wang, Ph.D., the company aims to accelerate development of novel drug treatments across autoimmune diseases, cancer, neuropsychiatric disorders, and infectious diseases. In tandem with the fundraise, Stellaromics appointed Todd Dickinson, Ph.D., as President & CEO and Ye Fu, Ph.D., as CTO.
