stimOS GmbH, based in Constance, Germany, develops a patented “Mimicking Bone Technology” (MBT) for osseointegrative implant surfaces. MBT is a biochemical process that initiates formation of healthy bone, has anti-inflammatory effects, provides acute anchoring of implants and substantially improves healing. The process restructures implant materials by applying a covalently bonded activation layer to impart cell-biological properties onto otherwise inert materials. Instead of relying on existing coating technologies, the company recreates properties known from nature and the patient’s own body. stimOS is adapting the MBT process for high volumes to ensure comprehensive patient care and broader clinical use. stimOS GmbH develops a patented Mimicking Bone Technology (MBT) based on a biochemical procedure that initiates early and healthy bone formation. The technology exhibits anti-inflammatory activity and speeds the healing process to improve patient recovery after surgery. It is designed to help implants remain firmly anchored even in osteoporotic bone and to achieve pain‑free outcomes post‑surgery. The company intends to use recently raised funds for further development and regulatory approval of its technology. stimOS was founded in May 2015 by Prof. Dr. Helmut Cölfen, Prof. Dr. Günter Schatz, Prof. Dr. Johannes Boneberg and Dr. Dietmar Schaffarczyk (CEO). In July 2017 it announced a €720k seed financing to support those plans.
