Betapond is an Ireland-headquartered Facebook marketing technology company that helps brands build social applications and marketing campaigns. It claims to be Europe’s “most established provider” of Facebook technology solutions for retail, consumer goods and tourism clients, targeting Facebook’s 1.1 billion users. The company lists clients including Unilever, Marks & Spencer, Tourism Ireland, Intel, Dove, VisitBritain, Boylesports, The Met Office and Paddy Power. Betapond plans to use the new funding to accelerate development and go-to-market of a forthcoming social commerce offering that powers product recommendations from consumers’ Facebook friends. In September it acquired Facebook app developer iPlatform to bolster technical talent and its London presence. The additional capital brings total funding to €3.15 million to date. Betapond develops Facebook apps and retail-marketing technology that incentivizes consumers to generate social recommendations and increase footfall through instant smartphone-based in-store rewards. Its clients include Paddy Power, Tourism Ireland, Visit Britain and multiple leading London and European advertising agencies. Founded in 2009, the privately held company has offices in Waterford, Dublin, London and California and is one of only 90 Facebook Preferred Developer Consultants globally and the only one in Ireland. Betapond has an emerging marketing platform and signed a one-year R&D agreement last September with the Telecommunications, Software & Systems Group with funding from Enterprise Ireland. The company plans to use the €1.15m in venture capital to expand into new markets, broaden its technology platform and double staff levels to 25 within the next year. The fundraising announcement follows the R&D agreement and supported R&D activity with Enterprise Ireland.
