Overview
Storehouse is an iPad app that lets users craft visual stories from text, images and video via a polished visual editing interface and standout presentation. The company was co-founded by Mark Kawano (ex-Apple iPhoto, Adobe, Frog) and Timothy Donnelly (The Daily alum). The app has attracted hundreds of thousands of users and tens of thousands of stories across varied content types. Storehouse plans to use funding to build out staff (including hires from Apple and Facebook), expand to a web version and additional mobile platforms like the iPhone, and to enhance video features. The team intends to keep the product free "for now" to spur growth and support emerging use cases—such as ad-hoc textbooks and instructional stories in developing countries and among students. The company has observed novel user behaviors like shooting short ~30-second video segments for recipes and DIY stories, which inform its product direction.
