StorSimple builds enterprise cloud storage appliances that securely and transparently integrate cloud services into on‑premises Windows and VMware applications, offering high‑performance tiered storage, live archiving, cloud‑based data protection and disaster recovery. The company has achieved 'Certified for Windows Server 2008' and VMware Ready status and has been recognized as Storage Magazine’s Product of the Year and Microsoft BizSpark Partner of the Year. StorSimple says it has deep partner relationships with companies such as Microsoft, which recently selected StorSimple as a Partner of the Year. The company announced a $10.5 million Series C round led by Ignition Partners, bringing total funding to $31.5 million. Management said the proceeds will fund accelerated growth to meet significantly increased demand in the U.S. and internationally and that the company is 'funded to hit escape velocity,' according to co‑founder and CEO Ursheet Parikh. Investors in the round included prior backers Index Ventures, Mayfield Fund and Redpoint Ventures. StorSimple builds a hybrid cloud storage appliance that integrates cloud storage into enterprise applications while keeping workloads on-premises. The product is optimized for Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange 2010, File Services and virtual machine environments. The company said the new capital will be used to expand sales, support and product operations. StorSimple is based in Santa Clara, CA. In conjunction with the funding the company appointed Ian Howells as chief marketing officer; he brings 25 years of experience at firms including Ingres, Documentum, SeeBeyond and Alfresco. The financing also brought the company’s total funding to $21m. StorSimple is a Santa Clara, CA-based developer of an application-optimized hybrid storage controller for SharePoint, Exchange, Windows user files and virtual machines. Its controller enables enterprises to securely integrate public and private cloud storage services with their existing on-premise deployments of mainstream enterprise applications. In June 2009 StorSimple closed an $8M Series A financing. The round was led by Satish Dharamraj of Redpoint Ventures and Bernard Dalle of Index Ventures. As part of the funding, Jayshree Ullal (CEO of Arista Networks) and Mike Volpi (Index Ventures) joined the company’s board alongside founders Guru Pangal (president and co-founder), Ursheet Parikh (CEO and co-founder), Dharamraj and Dalle.
