Stox is an online broker that aims to make equities trading more accessible to novice investors through a simplified user interface and social features. The platform lets users follow and copy the trades of investors with strong track records, charging an added fee for piggybacking while protecting trader anonymity. It operates on a commission-based revenue model. The company is currently in beta in the U.K. and plans to launch in the U.S. later this year. Co-founder and CEO Roy Shaham says the features help talented traders build personal brands and help novices learn. Stox is based in London and recently closed an $8 million Series A led by Singulariteam.
