Streak provides a CRM service built as a Google Chrome extension that lets users track deals and share email from within Gmail. The company unveiled an API to let apps programmatically pull and manipulate Streak data for use cases like web-form submission, pipeline management, automated reminders, search, and activity newsfeeds. Streak launched out of the winter Y Combinator class last March and reports 71% month-to-month growth since launch. The product targets small- and medium-sized businesses and is free today, with premium services planned for next spring. The company plans to use the funding to expand its team and to focus on building out mobile efforts. Streak positions itself against incumbents like Salesforce.com and SugarCRM and aims to build an ecosystem of apps on the Gmail platform.
