StreamSets

2 Bryant Street, Suite 240, San Francisco, CA, 94105, US

Overview

StreamSets offers a DataOps platform that enables enterprises to build, integrate, deploy and operate dataflow architectures for big data and streaming applications. Founded in 2014 by Girish Pancha and Arvind Prabhakar (a former engineering leader at Informatica and Cloudera), the company positions its platform as a continuous, disciplined process to accelerate delivery of data for customer 360, cybersecurity and IoT initiatives. The open-source StreamSets Data Collector, launched three years ago, has been downloaded over 2 million times by thousands of companies, including more than one-third of the Fortune 500. Commercial customers include GSK, Chesapeake Energy, Solera Holdings, and state and government agencies in multiple countries. StreamSets raised $35m in a Series C that brought total funding to over $65m. The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its international go-to-market, research and development efforts, and customer-facing functions. StreamSets provides an enterprise data operations platform that helps enterprises deliver data to critical applications. Its core components include StreamSets Data Collector, open-source software for building any-to-any dataflows, and StreamSets Dataflow Performance Manager (DPM) for managing complex dataflow topologies. Customers deploy the platform to support initiatives such as big data lakes, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity and customer 360 applications. In the 20 months since its public launch it has surpassed 250,000 open-source downloads and identified half of the Fortune 100 and well over 1,000 companies within its community. The company is based in San Francisco and was founded by Girish Pancha and Arvind Prabhakar. It raised $20M in a Series B to fund market expansion in North America and Europe and to accelerate delivery of new platform capabilities. StreamSets offers an enterprise-grade data ingest infrastructure, StreamSets Data Collector, that automates data movement, ingests, cleanses, and monitors data in motion to address the problem of “data drift.” The Data Collector is available under an open-source Apache (ALv2) license and the company also sells commercial subscription licenses for development and production support. StreamSets leverages intent-driven machine learning to validate and continuously prepare disparate real-time, streaming, and batch sources for consuming applications, reducing the need for custom-coded pipelines. Customers mentioned in the announcement include Lithium Technologies and Cisco, which use StreamSets to enable near-real-time messaging and to support SaaS data-pipeline flexibility and uptime. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in San Francisco, the company was started by Girish Pancha (former Informatica CPO) and Arvind Prabhakar (early Cloudera engineer). The company closed a $12.5 million Series A and said it will use the proceeds to build its open-source community, advance the product roadmap, and invest in partnerships and go-to-market activities.
