Overview
Strive Health is a Denver, CO-based company specializing in value-based kidney care and a partner of choice for innovative healthcare payors and providers. The company combines AI technology, care interventions and integration with local providers to form an integrated care delivery system that supports the patient journey from chronic kidney disease (CKD) to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). It partners with commercial and Medicare Advantage payors, Medicare, health systems and physicians through flexible value-based payment arrangements, including risk-based programs. Strive serves over 145,000 people with CKD and ESKD across 50 states and partners with more than 6,500 providers; its case management and population health programs are NCQA-accredited and its CareMultiplier platform is HITRUST-certified. The company is led by CEO Chris Riopelle. It intends to use the new capital to enhance end-to-end strategic partnerships, grow multi-specialty services and enhance its value-based care model through advanced technology, including AI-driven tools and analytics. Strive completed a $300M Series D equity round and secured $250M in debt financing for a combined $550M capital raise. Strive Health delivers value-based, technology-enabled kidney care by ingesting patient data and applying machine learning to stage disease and predict progression, enabling targeted interventions. The company launched in April 2020 with 700 patients in St. Louis and has expanded significantly since. Today it serves 80,000 patients across 30 states, partners with over 600 nephrology providers in 10 states, and employs 550 people. Strive manages over $2.5 billion of annual medical spending and reports its care model has produced over a 20% reduction in total kidney care costs and a 42% reduction in hospitalizations. Leadership declined to disclose specific revenue figures but said the company has been growing rapidly. The company plans to invest the new capital in technology development, expand payor, health system, nephrologist and medical group partnerships, enter new markets, and scale further in the 30 states where it already operates. Strive Health delivers a whole-patient, value-based kidney care model that pairs AI-powered predictive analytics with specially trained clinicians (“Kidney Heroes”) to slow chronic kidney disease progression, prevent hospitalizations, and increase access to home dialysis and transplants. Its data science models reportedly predict disease progression with greater than 95% accuracy, and its programs have shown up to a 29% reduction in total healthcare spend. The company has contracts with payors and providers including Humana, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, SSM Health and Conviva Care Centers, and partnerships with hundreds of nephrology providers through Medicare payment models. Strive says it has more than doubled its presence in regional markets and grown its employee base by over 600% in the last year. The company plans continued expansion and product/go-to-market innovation supported by strategic partners. Strive Health provides an integrated kidney care service powered by specialized technology and nephrology caregivers. The service covers the entire chronic kidney disease journey, from primary care–level prevention through end-stage renal replacement therapy. The company works with innovative payers and providers to deliver its care model. Strive was founded in 2018, is led by CEO Chris Riopelle, and was launched out of Oxeon’s Venture Studio. Recently the company received an investment from Ascension Ventures; the amount was not disclosed.
