StrongLoop
1001 E Hillsdale Blvd, Foster City, CA, 94404, United States
Overview
StrongLoop provides a mobile backend-as-a-service (MBaaS) platform built on Node.js that lets developers connect devices and browsers to backend data in the cloud or corporate data centers. With its funding the company launched LoopBack, an MBaaS available on Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Red Hat OpenShift and the Cloud9 IDE. LoopBack abstracts the complexity of backend integrations and can connect to data stores such as MongoDB, appealing to JavaScript and Node.js developers. New CEO Isaac Roth, a former Red Hat executive who helped spearhead OpenShift, is aiming to bridge mobile to enterprise backends. StrongLoop is betting on Node.js to manage high-volume data loads and multiple open backend sessions typical of mobile services. The company recently raised funding (see deal details) as it expands LoopBack amid a crowded MBaaS market that includes Kinvey and FeedHenry.
