StudentFreelance operates an online job board that connects students with paid freelance projects, acting as the broker between students and employers. Students submit skills and school information while employers post jobs; posting is currently free for both jobs and resumes. Jobs are paid on a freelance basis and, because most students do not need benefits, the platform can keep overhead low. The company plans to monetize on both sides of the transaction in the future. After only a month online it was serving a few thousand jobs and students and has raised a $300,000 friends-and-family round. Founder Michael Talei, who previously founded iEscrow and was a News Corp VP, positions the site as U.S.-focused and says it brings "Made in America" quality to the freelance marketplace while helping students gain experience and earn income.
