301 Brannan Street, Floor 6, San Francisco, California, 94107, United States
Overview
StumbleUpon operates a recommendation engine that serves personalized web content to users. The service reports 14 million users and delivers over 800 million "Stumbles" (recommendations) per month. CEO Garrett Camp said the new investment will be used to make it easier for people to find relevant content on desktop, mobile and TV. The company was acquired by eBay in 2007 and then bought back by its founders in 2009 for a rumored $29 million-plus. Prior to the eBay deal it raised a $1.5 million seed round in 2005, and received additional seed investment after the 2009 buyback from founders and early backers. StumbleUpon is leveraging its user and activity metrics as it expands its product across platforms.
