Stytch
555 Montgomery St, San Francisco, California, 94111, United States
Overview
Stytch provides developer-focused, API-first passwordless authentication tools and SDKs. The company has rolled out support for Sign In with Apple, Google and Microsoft, embeddable magic links, one-time email passcodes, and is adding WebAuthn for hardware keys and biometrics. It reports developer growth from about 350 in July to roughly 4,000 in November, an almost 1,000% increase. Stytch plans to expand its 30-person team, build out infrastructure, and further expand its platform over the coming months. As part of its Series B raise the company acquired Cotter, a Y Combinator-backed no-code passwordless authentication platform to simplify one-tap logins. The funding will be used to scale product adoption and infrastructure. Stytch offers an API-first platform that helps developers remove passwords by providing simple APIs and SDKs for email magic links, SMS and WhatsApp passcodes, and one-click user invitations. The founders, Reed McGinley-Stempel (CEO) and Julianna Lamb (CTO), are former Plaid employees who built authentication features used by millions. In its first year Stytch ran a beta with more than 350 developers and reports that a handful of Fortune 500 companies are using the product. The company launched out of beta concurrently with its latest funding and plans to roll out additional authentication options including biometrics, WebAuthn, OAuth logins, QR codes and push notification login. Stytch also intends to build more user infrastructure features such as session management and advanced fraud detection and aims to hire 20 people by year’s end. Financially, the company has raised venture financing to support product expansion and growth.
