Subspace Labs
2320 Bowdoin Street, Palo Alto, California, 94306, United States
Overview
Subspace Labs is developing an entirely new, “fourth‑generation” blockchain that scales linearly so transactions become cheaper as node count grows. Its protocol uses a proof‑of‑capacity ("one disk, one vote") consensus mechanism that leverages hard‑drive space to validate transactions and reduce energy use compared with proof‑of‑work. The network also incentivizes archival nodes to provide much cheaper and more permanent on‑chain storage, positioning Subspace as an availability and cold‑storage layer for NFT media and other blockchain data. Subspace can link to other chains as an external storage provider and offers Subspace Meta Services (SMS) tools and interfaces to help users and developers manage activity across multiple chains. The company was founded in 2018 and is led by co‑founder and CEO Jeremiah Wagstaff. Subspace plans to use new funding to expand integrations, build a dedicated SMS product team, and grow its team from 12 employees to around 40 by the end of 2022.
