Sudo
Barnawa, Kaduna, Nigeria
Overview
Sudo Africa is a Kaduna-based fintech that provides a card-issuing API enabling developers and businesses to issue virtual and physical cards. The platform partners with licensed card issuers and lets customers program spending, location and time controls in real time. Founders Aminu Bakori and Kabir Shittu built the product after encountering slow, API-less card issuance at a prior startup. Sudo positions itself as faster than banks (issuing cards in days versus weeks/months) and emphasizes granular controls for employee and merchant use cases. Customers span fintechs, microfinance banks, government agencies, logistics companies, commercial banks and e-commerce firms. The company monetizes via interchange fees on transactions, authorization fees for spending/location controls, and card production/personalization fees, and it plans to expand to three to four other African countries before year-end.
