Sulfiscon
Route de la Corniche 5, Alanine Building, Epalinges, 1066
Overview
Sulfiscon is expanding research from the Rheumatology Laboratory of the CHUV to develop small-molecule allosteric modulators as drug treatments for pathological calcification. The company was founded in 2017 and acquired SA status in 2021, and has been based at Biopôle’s StartLab since March 2023. It currently staffs two people and plans to expand its team in Epalinges. Sulfiscon’s near-term objectives are to generate convincing in vivo efficacy data, confirm the safety profile of its compounds, and consolidate its business and management team to enable phase I clinical studies. The team will use the Biopôle funding to pay for laboratory rental at StartLab, cover part of CRO study costs, and support hiring as development progresses. As an early-stage venture, funding is tight and the Biopôle award is positioned to advance its preclinical program.
