Summus Render is a Madrid, Spain–based render farm specializing in animated films and special effects. The company provides rendering services to films and actively supports the Spanish animation sector through its Summa 3D competition, participating in rendering animation shorts and in production of international shorts. It raised €1.6m in funding from Inveready Technology Investment Group, Caixa Capital Risc, CDTI and the Spanish Ministry of Economy. The company will use the funds to continue to expand operations. In 2017 Summus Render expected to launch the Simple Amimation platform, which will operate entirely from the cloud to allow users to reduce production costs and to cover market needs. The platform and expansion efforts align with the company’s focus on serving animation and VFX production workflows.
