Sunfish builds financial-assistance tooling to help hopeful parents navigate the costs of assisted reproduction, including egg freezing, embryo preservation, IVF, egg donation and surrogacy. The product partners with IVF clinics, surrogacy agencies and egg banks to find clients and then helps them access discounts, grants, employer benefits and loan options tailored to their needs. Sunfish pairs users with a financial adviser and offers a cost calculator; an AI component to that calculator is slated to go live later this year to provide more predictive cost estimates. The company does not currently supply loans itself but connects families to multiple lenders and facilitates loans to medical providers; the founder said Sunfish may offer in-house loans in the future. So far it has received more than $20 million in loan requests across hundreds of applicants and has supported hundreds of customers across 32 states with lines of credit ranging from $12,000 to $100,000. The startup was founded less than a year ago and is based in Santa Monica; CEO and founder Angela Rastegar previously ran Origin Finance, which wound down operations in January.
