SuperDuper is an iOS app that identifies lower-cost grocery- and drugstore-brand matches for high-end nail polish shades. Creator Lizzy Klein manually tests every color herself, painting and checking shades in different lighting to verify matches. The app lets users select a brand and shade (for example, Chanel Bel-Argus) and returns a suggested dupe (for example, OPI Miss Piggy’s Big Number). Klein says industry contacts and knowledge that three main factories produce many color cosmetics help source and confirm dupes. She is prioritizing user acquisition before launching monetization and has considered sponsorships and subscription models. Financially, SuperDuper has raised $300,000 from various investors to date, added an advisor from L’Oreal to the board, and is currently seeking a $1 million seed round.
