Superorder provides restaurants with websites, menus, photos and a suite of tools for order management, marketing, financial reconciliation and operations, consolidating orders and synchronizing menus across third-party delivery platforms. The platform also helps restaurants launch and manage virtual restaurants, using data science to identify in-demand dishes and generative AI to create menu descriptions and imagery. Superorder claims features that optimize menu pricing, reconcile sales, tax, commissions and fees, and present a single operations dashboard for multiple digital storefronts. The company combines product offerings with consulting to help restaurants scale off-premise sales while avoiding a one-to-many branding approach used by some competitors. Superorder plans to expand its product into a full off-premise operating system and will use new funding to grow its operations, sales and engineering teams. At the time of the article Superorder was New York City–based, had about 70 employees, operated in over 180 U.S. cities, served more than 1,500 restaurant customers and had facilitated around 1.5 million orders. Forward Kitchens builds a turnkey tool that helps independent restaurants create multiple digital storefronts and manage delivery without contacting each delivery platform. The company ran pilot programs in a handful of restaurants and has created a couple hundred digital storefronts. Founder Raghav Poddar started the company two years ago and participated in Y Combinator’s Summer 2019 cohort; Forward Kitchens is now coming out of stealth. The product assesses a kitchen’s additional cooking capacity, local demographics and nearby food availability to help design storefronts that expand a menu’s reach. The new funding will be used to expand the company’s footprint and to hire operations, sales and engineering staff to support the product.
