Superscript is an insurance broker and tech platform targeting SMEs and high-growth tech firms, founded in London in 2015. It operates two core businesses: an online-only self-serve platform for U.K. customers (SMEs, sole traders and landlords) and an advised broking service, SuperscriptQ, available in the U.K. and across the EEA for more complex risks. The company partners with carriers including AXA, Beazley at Lloyd’s, RSA and MS Amlin and counts clients such as fintech Paddle. Superscript uses proprietary machine learning and big-data models to guide acquisition, onboarding and to price risks more accurately. Financially, it had previously raised around $24.4 million (including roughly $20 million across two rounds in 2020) and has now secured £45 million ($54 million) in a Series B. The company says it will use the new capital to bolster underwriting and broking capabilities and continue investing in its machine learning tooling as it looks to scale beyond Europe.
