SURGAR

22 Allée Alan Turing, Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, 63000, France

Overview

SURGAR builds AR software that overlays a patient’s digital twin (from MRI or CT) onto the real-time laparoscopic view to visualise internal structures such as tumours, vessels and ducts. The system is designed to improve surgical precision, safety and efficiency, with the company claiming it can halve surgical complications and increase precision by up to 20x. SURGAR has achieved CE marking for its first solution. The technology results from over 12 years of collaboration between Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital and the EnCoV team at the Pascal Institute (Université Clermont-Auvergne, CNRS, INP Clermont-Auvergne) and was co-founded by Professors Bourdel, Bartoli, Canis and Le Roy. With the new funding, SURGAR plans to launch U-SURGAR for fibroids and adenomyosis and to finalise and commercialise L-SURGAR and K-SURGAR for liver and kidney cancers. Other AI-driven applications, including for endometriosis, are in development and the company has signed multiple collaboration agreements with hospitals in France and internationally.
