SuVolta

130-D Knowles Drive, Los Gatos, California, 95032, United States

Overview

SuVolta develops and licenses transistor and design technologies that enable optimum power and performance for integrated circuits. Its Deeply Depleted Channel (DDC) technology offers designers flexibility to create low-power products across processors, memories and SOCs used in mobile systems. The company targets ultra-low power applications including DRAM, Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile computing. Led by president and CEO Bruce McWilliams, SuVolta focuses on integrating its low-power chip technology into IC design and fabrication. It secured $10.6M in funding to accelerate that integration. The company is based in Los Gatos, California. SuVolta has developed the Powershrink transistor manufacturing process to cut chip power requirements, making the resultant chips well suited for handsets and tablets. The company has worked with Fujitsu to help execute the technology. SuVolta came out of stealth in June 2010 after an initial $22M funding round that year. The new financing is intended to fund additional production work and promote the Powershrink technology. Management has emphasized maintaining financial independence as semiconductor investment declines and larger incumbents dominate R&D spending. To date the company has raised nearly $40M in disclosed capital.
