SWIR Vision Systems is a Durham-based spin-out from RTI International focused on commercializing infrared camera technology developed at RTI. The company has launched Acuros, a line of high-definition visible-to-SWIR cameras that deliver high-resolution images and are positioned at lower cost points compared with InGaAs SWIR cameras. Acuros cameras are intended for industrial machine vision, security systems, agricultural and automotive imaging, among other global imaging markets. SWIR was launched this year and named George Wildeman as CEO and Ethan Klem as CTO to lead commercialization and technical development. According to an SEC filing, the company raised $1 million through a combination of debt and equity. RTI described the spin-out as part of its mission to commercialize promising discoveries and extend impact.
