Switch
Praça de Alvalade nº 6 – 4º Frente Alvalade, Lisbon, Lisboa, Portugal
Overview
Founded in 2014, Switch develops software that automates tedious online tasks, beginning with a credit-card updater that synchronizes new card details across services such as Amazon, Uber, Spotify, and Netflix. The product gives consumers greater financial portability and provides card-issuing banks with visibility that can encourage more frequent card usage. Switch’s platform relies on web automation and machine learning, and the team plans to extend the same technology to additional verticals beyond payments. Co-founders Chris Hopen and David Pool previously built Spry, the “Internet-in-a-Box” pioneer acquired by Compuserve for $100 million. The company employs 10 people and recently emerged from stealth, presenting at Finovate while it explores partnerships. Since inception Switch has raised $1.7 million, including the latest follow-on financing. Hopen notes that consumers now hold an average of 3.7 credit cards, a trend the company believes will drive demand for its updater service.
