Swoop began as a food delivery app that first launched in Eswatini and has since relocated operations to Lagos. The company rebuilt its codebase using AI tools and recently released an updated version of its app. It employs a 28-person team and is actively onboarding restaurants and hiring staff to scale operations. Founder Aubrey Niederhoffer, a 19-year-old Thiel Fellow, has signaled ambitions to expand beyond delivery into payments and other marketplace services. Swoop has so far operated primarily in fair-weather conditions and is still testing how its service performs under different conditions. The company views its roadmap as evolving toward a multi-service super app model inspired by prominent Asian super apps.
