SXD

Allston, Massachusetts, United States, North America

Overview

SXD develops an AI-powered software platform that restructures garment patterns so pieces nest like a puzzle, reducing cutting-room waste from industry norms of about 10–15% to around 1% or less. The system integrates with existing factory workflows and automates resizing across many sizes in seconds rather than through manual redrawing. After roughly four years of development the 15-person team has run pilots and product tests—hand-sewing a 200-piece collection that sold out and building partnerships with H&M Foundation, Uniqlo, Harvard Coop, MIT, Busana Group, and a major record label. The company also reports savings of more than 20% for some automotive textile customers. SXD’s founder studied sustainable development at Columbia and later attended Harvard Business School; the company won Harvard’s New Venture Competition in 2021.
