Sym
625 Mississippi Street, San Francisco, CA, 94107, United States
Overview
Sym offers a library of workflow templates and primitives that cover the common core of security and governance tasks and lets developers tailor the last-mile variance with minimal code via its Python SDK. The platform is designed to put engineers back in control of security, mirroring the DevOps movement, and supports integrations with a wide range of developer services. Currently in private beta, Sym has already begun onboarding large customers and plans to launch a self-serve version of the product around mid-next year. The fresh capital will be used primarily to expand the engineering team, with sales and marketing hires to follow as the product matures. Co-founder Yasyf Mohamedali conceived Sym after repeatedly building similar compliance tools while serving as CTO of healthcare startup Karuna Health. The company’s developer-friendly approach aims to replace the bespoke, repetitive tooling many companies build in-house for HIPAA and other compliance requirements. Prior funding includes a $3 million seed round from earlier this year, bringing total funding to $12 million.
