Overview

Syncapse provides a cloud-based platform that enables enterprises to manage all social media marketing in a single, centralized environment. The company sells software and services to help customers build, manage, standardize and measure their social media presence. It counts customers such as RIM/BlackBerry, Unilever, Sony and EA. Syncapse said it will use the new funding to invest in sales, marketing, and product development for its Syncapse Platform. This financing is the company’s first institutional investment; prior financings included a $3.3 million round and $2 million from the Business Development Bank of Canada. The company’s board includes Rob Burgess and Ian Giffen. Syncapse also recently acquired London-based social media developer Nudge Social Media. Syncapse is a social media technology company founded in 2007 that develops SocialTALK, social media management software for brand marketers and agencies. The company invested nearly $10 million in product development in 2010 and said it was on track to invest a similar amount the following year. Earlier funds were used to fuel global expansion and continue product development for SocialTALK. Syncapse recently acquired London-based social media development firm Nudge Social Media. Using new financing, the company plans to expand its suite of technology products for marketers, ramp up hiring for sales and marketing roles, and appoint new members to its board of directors. The board currently includes Rob Burgess, former CEO of Macromedia, and Ian Giffen, Chairman of The Descartes Systems Group. Syncapse builds community-building platforms, technology solutions, and digital measurement products for social media. Founded in 2007 by Michael Scissons, the company has offices in Toronto, New York, London, and Portland. Scissons previously served as the Canadian Director of Facebook media sales within the Interpublic network, integrating marketing into Facebook beginning in early 2006. The company announced a round of private equity funding of $3.3 million that was announced alongside the appointment of Ian Giffen to its inaugural board. Recently, former Macromedia CEO and current Adobe board member Rob Burgess joined Syncapse's board of directors.
