Overview

Founded in 2009 by Jack Perry and based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Syncbak provides an OTT platform that replicates over‑the‑air broadcasts for live and on‑demand delivery. Its platform powers solutions such as CBS All Access and offers live stream transcoding, cloud‑based rights resolution, cloud DVR, device filtering, geo‑location services, content management, stream monitoring and dynamic ad insertion. Syncbak’s technology is deployed in more than 180 television stations across 150 markets, representing 51 broadcast groups and all major networks. The company is backed by industry organizations and partners including CBS, the National Association of Broadcasters and the Consumer Technology Association. In April 2016 Syncbak received a strategic equity investment that strengthens its financial position to continue deploying and supporting broadcaster OTT services. Syncbak builds a location-based authentication platform that enables local television stations to stream live, in-market broadcast TV to viewers on internet and mobile devices. The Syncbak app, when fully activated, is available via the App Store and Google Play and will allow users to watch live, in-market broadcast TV on Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. Its technology localizes the internet to enable retransmission of live television over the internet in a manner similar to cable, satellite and telco distribution. The system is being tested by more than 100 television stations in 70 markets across 31 broadcast groups, representing major networks including CBS, ABC, FOX, NBC and The CW. Syncbak will continue to offer its platform to other broadcast networks and station groups while working with partners on activation and deployment. The company was founded in 2009 by CEO Jack Perry and has secured strategic investments from CBS Corporation and industry groups. Syncbak provides a platform that enables broadcasters to launch personalized TV via the internet to authenticated viewers on connected devices. Its solution is driven by proprietary hardware and supports streaming of personalized or 1:1 television experiences. The company is using recently raised funds to hire additional staff and to expand its network of connected affiliates. It plans to complete a trial of its internet TV technology in fifty television stations this summer. To date the company has raised a total of $5.6M. Syncbak was founded in 2009 by CEO Jack Perry and is based in Marion, IA.
