Syniverse

8125 Highwoods Palm Way, Tampa, FL, 33647, United States

Overview

Syniverse provides networking and messaging infrastructure that enables mobile network operators and enterprises to move communications across public and private networks, and is described as one of the largest private IP Packet Exchange (IPX) providers. Its core product set focuses on seamless interconnection across multiple private networks and between public and private networks, serving use cases such as messaging, industrial IoT, and private 4G/5G networking. The company has entered a strategic partnership with Twilio to combine Twilio’s API communications capabilities with Syniverse’s carrier relationships to build an end-to-end communications system. Syniverse was founded in 1987 and remains privately owned by the Carlyle Group, which acquired the company in 2010 for $2.6 billion. The Wall Street Journal has reported Syniverse could pursue a SPAC to go public later this year at a $2–3 billion valuation, a possibility cited by analysts as additional upside related to the Twilio investment. The deal also formalizes a customer relationship—Twilio has been a Syniverse customer—and aims to give Twilio access to Syniverse’s carrier and private-network capabilities.
