Overview

Syntellia builds Fleksy, a software keyboard currently available on Android devices. Fleksy uses an algorithm that maps touch points or simulated points of touch to predicted words, enabling fast typing via users' muscle memory. The company plans to expand Fleksy to iOS through developer partners and to other connected gadgets and input methods such as Leap Motion. Syntellia highlights potential use cases for vision-impaired users and for interfaces in smart appliances, in-car entertainment, navigation and information systems. The company will use new funding to hire subject-matter experts and to support partnership and market expansion efforts. Syntellia announced a $3 million Series A to drive continued product development. Syntellia is a San Francisco–based company that developed Fleksy, an innovative touchscreen keyboard app using the QWERTY layout. Fleksy is used by blind and visually impaired people and currently supports US English. The company plans to add other languages including Spanish, French and Italian. It also intends to support more platforms such as Android and Windows Phone 8 and to develop an iPad version. Syntellia said it will use the capital to accelerate sales, build strategic partnerships and provide resources for cross-platform development. The company was co-founded by CEO Kostas Eleftheriou and COO Ioannis Verdelis.
