Synthetic is developing a fully autonomous AI bookkeeping product intended to generate accrual-based financials without human intervention. The product is still in the design phase and the company says its prototype currently works for a narrow set of users. Synthetic plans to serve only AI and other software startups. Founder Ian Crosby acknowledges current foundational models still make significant bookkeeping mistakes and is uncertain how the system will scale broadly. The company raised $10 million in Seed funding and the founder stated the business has “years of cash,” giving it runway to wait for model improvements. Synthetic maintains a goal of releasing only a fully autonomous solution rather than hybrid human-accountant approaches.
