T2 is an early-stage service (the name is a working title) building a familiar, Twitter-like social experience with a 280-character format. The project launched in earnest last November and is based in the Bay Area with a staff of seven. Its closed alpha has fewer than 100 users, while a signup list runs into the tens of thousands. The team plans to use its new funding to continue product development and hire across roles, including a CTO. Cselle, the founder, has previously founded and sold startups to Twitter and Google and has built products at both companies. The company is also pursuing further fundraising and says VCs are looking for roughly 5,000 active users before backing it.
