Tabas
Rua Bento Freitas, 362, São Paulo, Sao Paulo, 01220-000, Brazil
Overview
Tabas operates a long-term rental platform in Brazil that offers flexible, furnished apartments with a focus on month-plus stays and improved tenant experience. The company was founded by Leonardo Morgatto and Simone Surdi after both encountered poor temporary-rental experiences. Tabas raised earlier financing including $1.5M from Greece-based VentureFriends in October 2020 and about $3.6M via Brazil’s certificates of real estate receivables. In its latest round Tabas secured equity and debt financing to scale operations; equity will fund hiring, branding, and technology/process improvements while debt will finance apartment renovations and purchases of TVs, dressers, and beds. The company aims to reach a portfolio of 1,200 apartments by the end of 2022, consolidate in São Paulo, expand to additional Brazilian cities, and begin operations in Mexico City in 2023. Its resilience through pandemic-era market challenges was cited as a factor that attracted investor interest.
