Overview
Tackk offers a template-based content-creation platform that lets users combine text, images, audio and video into single pages without requiring accounts. The company came out of beta and says its goal is to be a “universal content creation tool.” Tackk emphasizes simplicity and non-lock-in: creators can publish to social networks, download content as PDFs, and do not need a Tackk account to create. Since launching a year ago, Tackk has attracted 700,000 unique visitors with minimal marketing. The product has expanded from pure creation to include social features such as profiles and the ability to follow other users to support discovery. Leadership includes CEO Christopher Celeste and co-founder Eric Bockmuller. Tackk builds a simple publishing tool for single-use, disposable content—an online equivalent of a flier—where users can upload images or embed media, add text, and customize colors and fonts. The product is positioned between social networks and full blog platforms, aiming to make quick expressive posts that are easy to create and share. During private beta the company already showed diverse use cases, including an album release party flier, instructions for making homemade bacon, and a commemorative Tackk for Neil Armstrong. Tackk plans to monetize by creating branded content with marketers and offering premium consumer features. The company announced a $400,000 seed financing from Hatch Partners and other Cleveland-area investors. Hatch partners Christopher Celeste and Robert Hatta are joining as CEO and COO while the co-founders remain involved; Celeste and Hatta said they will pull back from active investing for six to 12 months.
