Overview
Tactilize is an iPad self-publishing service that enables regular users to create apps through a web-based interface and publish them to the Tactilize app. The company shifted from building custom apps for individual clients to focusing on a broader “content network” model. It launched an open beta at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco and currently has about 3,000 users. Tactilize aims to simplify content production and distribution for the iPad; CEO Nicolas Voisin described the product as an industry-changing “disrupter.” The company recently completed a $1 million funding round and is finalizing an additional $280,000 to bring total raised to $1.28 million. Tactilize says its investors are specialized tech funds from Switzerland and the Middle East, and that one backer is the founder of a tech company. The company has not disclosed detailed plans for the funds but intends to make several announcements before Christmas.
