Overview
TaKaDu provides a cloud-based platform that fuses raw network data (flow, pressure, water quality) with secondary data (weather, GIS, calendar) and applies advanced statistical algorithms to detect, classify and locate leaks, bursts, faulty meters and zone breaches. The service delivers real-time alerts and a holistic view of networks to improve incident response times and support long-term planning for utility owners. TaKaDu's patented technology is designed for easy deployment with no network changes, no additional devices and no capital expenditure. The company serves utilities globally through a network of partners and resellers and is a founding member of the Smart Water Networks (SWAN) Forum. TaKaDu has won industry awards including the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award. The company announced a recent equity investment from 3M New Ventures (terms undisclosed) and said it plans to scale its solution to water network owners worldwide and expand its technology capability; ABB made a strategic investment in the prior year. TaKaDu offers water infrastructure monitoring as a service, linking to flow, quality and pressure sensors and ingesting GIS, maintenance, access-control and seasonal data. Its platform uses data‑mining techniques (including cross-site correlation) to identify leaks, inefficiencies and faults; Thames Water reported leak detection up to nine days earlier than its previous system. The software correlates neighborhood consumption patterns and other signals to distinguish genuine problems from benign changes. Founded in 2009 and based in Yahud, Israel, TaKaDu has about 25 employees. The company targets a large drinking- and wastewater repair market Lux Research estimated at $17 billion annually. TaKaDu recently raised new capital to expand and commercialize its monitoring-as-a-service offering. TaKaDu offers a web-based SaaS platform that analyzes utilities' existing meter and supervisory-system data to detect and predict leaks, bursts, inefficiencies and equipment failures. Its proprietary mathematical algorithms borrow from network theory and machine learning to correlate multiple variables, learn normal behavior and flag anomalies. Rather than selling directly to risk-averse utilities, TaKaDu partners with incumbents such as IBM and Schneider Electric to reach customers and integrate with existing offerings. The company has several paying utility customers in the U.K., the Netherlands, Australia and Israel — including Thames Water and Jerusalem’s Hagihon — and charges monthly fees ranging from $10,000 to $150,000 depending on network scale. TaKaDu is conducting trials across Europe, the Asia-Pacific region and the United States and has assembled a research team of advanced-degree engineers and many Talpiot graduates to refine its models. Founder and CEO Amir Peleg, who sold his previous company YaData to Microsoft, led product development after the financing and a year of algorithm refinement.
