Tandem is a subscription-based fintech app founded by Michelle Winterfield and Daniel Couvreur to help modern couples plan, save and spend together without requiring a joint bank account. The app launched in August 2023 and lets one partner invite the other, connect credit/debit cards, pull in transactions, and choose which items to share. Users can automate transfers into shared expense pots, assign contributions to specific categories, and create joint “Goals” for shared purchases. Tandem has grown to more than 25,000 couples and has managed about $60 million in expenses to date. The company initially launched with a choose-your-own-price model and is moving to paid plans at $10 per couple per month billed annually or $12 per couple per month billed monthly. Near-term product plans include the newly released Goals feature and an upcoming Android app; the company says it will also use new capital for marketing and to grow the team.
