TapShield offers a mobile application and cloud-based incident response platform that lets users instantly transmit real-time location and profile information during emergencies. The product targets higher education, K–12, corporate and municipal customers and leverages indoor positioning and location-tracking technology developed at the University of Florida. The company says the technology will reduce emergency reporting and response times in complex, multi-story buildings. TapShield plans to scale operations to meet demand from higher ed and corporate institutions and to add sales and marketing leadership. Recent hires include Ben Boyd as Head of Technology, who joined from Discovery Communications. Financially, the company has just secured new capital to support growth and hires.
