TaxProper provides an online service that automates the property-tax appeal process by comparing assessments of similar homes and generating county paperwork. Users enter an address and TaxProper’s algorithm evaluates comparable properties (size, rooms, materials) to determine if a reduction is likely. The company says its part of the process takes about 3–5 minutes, after which county responses typically take 6–8 weeks. Pricing is either a $149 up-front fee or 30% of first-year tax savings; customers pay nothing if the algorithm finds no opportunity or if an appeal is denied. TaxProper reports average per-customer savings of roughly $700. The company is part of Y Combinator’s Summer 2019 batch, currently operating in Chicago and Cook County with plans to roll out in New York and Texas in the coming months.
