Overview

In4Derm is a spin‑out from the University of Dundee’s School of Life Sciences with laboratory facilities in Dundee, Scotland. The company develops first‑in‑class anti‑inflammatory and orphan‑indication therapeutics, including topical and oral BET inhibitor (BETi) programmes. After a 2020 seed round, In4Derm entered an option and licensing arrangement with VYNE Therapeutics in early 2021 covering its topical and oral BETi programmes. That deal includes potential upfronts and milestones totaling over $80m plus royalties, and VYNE exercised its option to license the topical BETi in August 2021 with plans to begin clinical trials in 2022. The newly announced £1.6m pre‑Series A will support continued development of the oral BETi programme and expansion of the pipeline into additional inflammation and orphan disease assets. Existing investors participated alongside the University of Dundee, which is investing in the spin‑out for the first time. In4Derm is a biotech developing new small-molecule drugs for anti-inflammatory and orphan indications. The company is focused on next-generation topical and oral therapies for widespread inflammatory conditions including eczema and rheumatoid arthritis. Its pipeline includes oral BDII-selective BET compounds positioned as first-in-class anti-inflammatory candidates and pan-BET inhibitors for topical dermatology use. In4Derm is a spinout from the University of Dundee and maintains laboratory facilities in Dundee, Scotland. A seed investment led by the o2h human health EIS Fund, syndicating with Meltwind and Wren, will be used to complete lead optimisation for an oral first-in-class anti-inflammatory drug. Leadership includes CEO Tim Sparey and Dr Andrew Woodland, and the team was recognised as Scotland’s top spin-out opportunity for 2020 after winning the 2019 Converge Challenge.
