Overview
Teatime Live is a mobile gaming platform that lets users play games while interacting face-to-face through built-in video chat. The platform adds Game Faces—game-specific filters that players can earn and carry between titles, with the company positioning them as potential collectibles. Teatime debuts with an in-house racer called Hyperspeed and plans to continue building titles as a studio while also publishing games from third-party developers. To mitigate abuse from live video among strangers, Teatime requires signup via Facebook, Gmail, or phone, uses facial-recognition-based blur when no face is visible, employs moderators, and offers user reporting. The company intends to monetize by building games around proven mobile models and sharing revenue with developers. Teatime has raised $9 million in Series A funding from Atomico and Index Ventures; its founder previously built QuizUp, which raised over $40M and reached more than 100M users.
