Teleport is a blockchain-based, decentralized ride-hailing app developed by Decentralized Engineering Corp. that aims to connect drivers and passengers without centralized dispatch or middlemen. Its underlying protocol, The Rideshare Protocol (TRIP), is a decentralized marketplace intended for use by app developers and runs atop the Solana blockchain. A token will be used for decentralized governance of the protocol. Teleport’s user experience is designed to closely mimic existing ride-hailing apps so drivers and riders do not need to learn new workflows. Riders can pay by credit card or USDC stablecoin, while drivers can receive direct bank payments or USDC, allowing users to participate with or without crypto exposure. The company plans a Q4 app launch with pilot demonstrations at Solana’s Breakpoint conference in Lisbon in November and at Art Basel in Miami in December.
